While the "respectfully relentless" CAPE-NM board does its best to keep abreast of all that happens during the legislative session, their job is made much easier by fellow home educators who know how to look at bills and find the ones which discuss home schooling. This used to involve many hours of time and hard work, but thanks to the Internet, this detective work is much easier than it used to be! Here's how you, too, can be a Bill Detector: Click on this link. This is the web site of the New Mexico Legislature. If you know a bill's number, type it into the search window, select Senate or House, and click search.
If you find a bill that contains language, positive or negative, that affects home education, please call the CAPE voice mail at (505) 898 - 8548 or e-mail the CAPE Legislative Watchers right away. This is a simple, educational (you and your children can do this together), and enjoyable way to assist the CAPE board as they work to protect our right to educate our children to God's glory. You don't have to spend days in the Roundhouse, and you don't even need a trench coat!
