CAPE Action monitors federal legislative proposals with the help of the National Center for Home Education. Communication with New Mexico legislators enables us to keep current with state issues. We maintain an e-mail network to “get the word out” quickly when lobbying is necessary.
CAPE encourages home school families to be active, involved and praying citizens, and recognizes that according to a recent study, 94% of New Mexico’s home educators are registered to vote and exercise that right.

During the legislative session, CAPE sponsors an opportunity to meet, greet, and get acquainted with state legislators, called CAPE at the Capitol. Presenting the“ faces” of home schooling has helped establish parent-directed education as a mainstream and successful school choice. These is an opportunity to participate in a great family field trip to Santa Fe, tour the Roundhouse, and celebrate the annual proclamation declaring Home Education Week in New Mexico.

SUPPORTING HOME SCHOOL FRIENDLY LEGISLATION - Introducing, lobbying, and praying for the passage of statutes that preserve and expand the freedom of parents to direct the education of their children is foundational to the ministry of CAPE Action.

CAPE Action regularly intercedes with school districts on behalf of home school families, clarifying state law, as well as correcting misconceptions and misinformation about home education.

is an incorporated 501c4 organization, directed by a board subscribing to a Christian statement of faith. CAPE Action serves the entire home school community, regardless of religion. Contributions to CAPE Action are NOT tax-deductible because we lobby for the best home school legislation.
