Requirements for Driver Permit
Applications for driver permits for minors must be accompanied by certifications of “nearing academic proficiency” in math and reading in the 8th grade and 90% attendance in the 9th grade. Failing to achieve either will result in a six-month waiting period, and failure to achieve both will result in a one-year wait.
Thanks to an outpouring of concern from the homeschool community, homeschool operators will certify their own students based on the assessment of their choice. Parents are respectfully reminded that the permit and license to drive may be used for motivation in academics, attitude, character, and maturity.
